CHILDREN'S EFFORT
SUCCESSFUL CONCERT
The Kent Terrace Church Schoolroom was crowded with parents and children, when a concert was held, arranged by Clyde Quay Standard VI schoolgirls and organised by Noeline Napier and Laurel Henderson. The proceeds, £14 10s, were in aid of the Chinese Refugee Children Fund.
A very good programme* was presented by the school children and consisted of songs, dances, elocutionary numbers, and playettes. Maori songfs were contributed by a troupe of girls in costume and led by Valeric Wilkinson, Miss Margaret Oates was the accompanist for the items and Mr. H. Downes was the stage manager.
The soloists were Shirley Wilson, Joan Gallagher, Betty Paynter, Audrey Flitcroft, Joan Good, Kay Grieve, June Bean, Shirley De Cent, Margaret Jardine, John Henderson, Alexander Grant, Norman Wilson, and Reg. Ware. Those taking part in the plays were Marie Irwin, Lorna Leckie, Noeline Napier, Elaine Grieve, Nancy McNeil, Pat Huett, Ivy Pattinson, Laurel Henderson, Nicholas Marcelles, Billy Tubou, John Hipkins, Ron. Hanskett, Brian Hall, and Alfred Unwin.
The headmaster, Mr. Rogers, presented Miss Oates with a token of appreciation on behalf of the children.
If a cup of tea is spilt on the tablecloth, immediately cover the stain with sugar. When the cloth is put in water, every stain s will disappear.
