INTENSIVE SEARCH
MISSING WOMAN
POLICE ACTIVITY
(By Telegraph—Press Association.)
CHRISTCHURCH, This Day,
With a large contingent of police still combing the countryside no trace has yet been found of Mrs. Harriet Jane Patience, aged 60, wife of Mr. Arthur I John Patience, public works employee. Under Detective-Sergeant J. Bicker--1 dike the men are scouring the hills at the back of a former public works camp at Claverly, and it is understood that portions of a beach are being dug over.
Missing since October 4, *Mrs. Patience was at the time of her disappearance living at Claverly, where her husband was employed at the South Island Main Trunk camp. Nothing has been heard of her since. Police assistance was requisitioned, and on Monday nine members of the Christchurch Police Force were sent to Claverly, where they are now camped. Superintendent A. Cameron and Chief Detective W. H. Dunlop left Christchurch this morning by car for the scene of police activity. In the meantime an intensive search continues, the police being aided by public works employees in the district. The main' camp, however, has been moved to Taratuhi, further along the South Island Main Trunk line, and there are fewer men in the Claverly district now.
