Edwin Harris, distinguished Dickensian, has died in Kent, the setting for many episodes in the novelist's stor-

ies. His age was 79. Mr. Harris wrote what was considered the best sequel to Dickens's unfinished story, "Edwin Drood"—"John Jasper's Gatehouse." Mr. Harris .was official guide for twenty-five years to "Dickensland," in and around Rochester. He retired last December when the interior of Dickens-'s London home at 48 Doughty Street was restored so that it was furnished in a fashion similar to the way it was in the author's time.
