GIFTS FOR LEPER STATION

' The Paraparaumu Women's Institute met in the Anglican Hall recently, when gifts were received for the Makogai Leper Station, to be sent in time for Christmas. An interesting talk on "York" was given by Miss Hammond. Mrs. Evans, of Kimberley, gave an instructive and interesting lecture on flower work and the making of wreaths.

The "Bring and Buy" stall was well stocked with a pleasing array of goods.

The results of the "best flower in my garden" competition were as follows: —Mrs. Pratt 1, Miss Clarkson 2. The flowers in this section were all very lovely, and the judge had a difficult task in choosing the winners. Other competitions resulted as follows: —Best lettuce, Miss Wingate 1, Mrs. Bain 2; best cake costing less than Is, Mrs. Fitchett 1, Miss Clarkson 2. The hostesses served afternoon tea.
