A PLEASANT AFTERNOON
The Lyall Bay-Kilbirnie branch of the League of Mothers met recently. Mrs. R. W. B. Young presided and welcomed all present, especially representatives of other branches. Three new members were enrolled.
The following "thought for the month" was given by Mrs. Claughton: "No man or woman, even of the humblest sort, can really be strong, gentle, pure, and good without the world being better for it; without somebody being helped and comforted by the very existence of that goodness." The choir gave much pleasure with two songs, and Mrs. McNabb contributed two elocutionary items, all of which were greatly appreciated. ■ A very amusing play reading, entitled "I'm Sorry—lt's Out," was given by six members of the branch. Mesdames jA. Bruce, Outhwaite, H. Q. Bruce, Leslie Jones, Ford, and W. H. Walshe.
Afternoon tea was, served and the singing of the National Anthem concluded the meeting.
