RALLY AT FEILDING

PALMERSTON N., This Day.

Taouni Aerodrome, near., Feilding, was the scene of considerable activity on Saturday and Sunday when the third annual rally of the Southern Districts (North Island) Model Aeroplane Association was held. More than 120 enthusiasts from as far apart as Auckland and Wellington were present and, considering the weather conations, some creditable performances . were registered. Chief interest was attached to the flying of the petrol-driven, models, 30 of which were on the ground. They represent an aggregate value of about £300. ; Results were as follows:— :. Fuselage, Weight Rule (aggregate of three flights).—Senior: W. Hudson (Wellington), 6min 36 2-ssec, 1; J. McGuire (Wellington), 3min 54 l-ssec, 2; G. Henderson, 3min 13 2-ssec, 3. Junior: V. Walters (Wellington), 6min 37sec, 1; M. Taylor (Levin), 2min 14sec, * 2; G. Hayles (Wellington), 41 3-ssec, 3.

Spar, Hand-launched (aggregate, of three flights).—Senior: C. Woolf (Wellington), Smin 20 3-ssec, 1; A. Pearce, 2min 44sec, 2; E. Thornley (Welling: ton), 2min 22 l-ssec, 3. Junior:-'J. Clarke (Levin), 2min 46sec, 1.

Wakefield Class (aggregate of three flights).—Ej Thornley, 2min 39 4-ssec,l; H. Finney (Wellington), 2min 39 4-sseC, 2; J. McGuire, Smin 8 4-ssec, 3.

Glider, Hand-launched (aggregate of six flights).—Senior: S. Marsden i(Wellington), 3min 20 4-ssec, 1; F. Bethwaite (Wanganui), 2min 55sec, 2; E. Thornley, lmin 57sec, 3. Junior: V. Walters (Wellington), 2min lsec, 1; M. Taylor, lmin 56 4-ssec, 2; K. Perrin (Palmerston North), lmin 6 2-ssec, 3.

Sailplane (aggregate of three flights). —Senior: E. Thornley, 2min 16 3-ssec, 1; A. Pearce, lmin 58 3-ssec, 2; J. McGuire, lmin 18 4-ssec, 3. Junior: V. Walters, lmin 49 3-ssec, 1.

Times were also taken during the day for the New Zealand-wide trophy contest for petrol-driven models, which is in progress at present. The following were the best, the maximum motor run allowed being 45sec:—R. McGregor (Napier), 4min; M. Kibby (New Plymouth), lmin 58 4-ssec; W. Dawson (Napier), lmin 44see.
