WORKMAN INJURED
JIGGER AS AMBULANCE

PALMERSTON N., This Day.
A novel method had to be adopted to transport a man injured during clearing operations oh the railway line in the Manawatu Gorge yesterday morning. The ambulance could get no closer to the scene of the accident than the Ashhurst' : railway, station, and the men were compelled to use a motor jigger to bring the .victim out from the spot where the mishap occurred. V
■ The injured man was William Rivett, aged 23, married, railway employee, of Palmerston North. He suffered a fracture of the bone on ithe front of the forehead and a deep gash also on the forehead as a resuljt of being struck by a flying object following the firing of a charge of gelignite. His condition is serious. \
