WATT CUP
MANOR PARK'S WIN
•;• Manor Park's win in this year's Watt Cup' competition, by 3$ points from Shandon, has caused general satisfaction among golfers in the minor Wellington qlubs. It, is the first time that the club has won the trophy, but this Very fact should keep alive the interest in the competition. Added interest is always given a sport by the cbnstant moving round of the trophy.
■■': The win was well-merited, for the club this year has a well-balanced, solid side, with three particularly usejEjdl golfers in the major positions. J. £i. Black, one of the leading amateurs in the Dominion, has played consistently* well in the No. 1 position, and good support has been forthcoming from F. W. Page and J. Logan. The remaining members of the team have all played a part in the club's success.
, Shandon provided Manor Park with some rather uneasy, moments, and ended up very close to the winners, but they found Waiwetu too hard a proposition on the latter's course in their last match, and were unable to secure sufficient points to overtake Manor Park. W. B. Reilly, E. C. Hollis, and H. McL. Elliott are a trio who were hard to beat during the season. Waiwetu had a fairly close tussle with Shandon in the Ranish Cup competition for the second teams.
Following are the final points in the Watt and Ranish Cup matches:—
Watt Cup.—-Manor Park, 635; Shandon, 60;' Titahi, 435; Waiwetu, 41$; Paekakariki, 31$. "' Ranish Cup.—Waiwetu, 565; Shannon, 50; Manor Park, 425; Titahi, 26; 25.
