BRIDGE ON FIRE

TAURANGA RAILWAY

A railway bridge about half a mile west of Omokoroa was discovered to be on fire early yesterday morning, states today's "New Zealand Herald." A goods train from Auckland crossed the bridge safely shortly after 5 o'clock, while- the structure was alight. The crew of the train extinguished the fire.

The bridge, which is a lengthy one, was found to be in an unsafe condition and temporary repairs are being effected. Passenger trains are running a little late and passengers are being transferred by road between Omoko•roa and Apata.
