FEASTED AND FETED
MR. COMBS'S EXPERIENCE
Speaking at Kaiwarra last night, Mr H. E. Combs, Labour, candidate for Wellington Suburbs, said he felt himseli to be a very fortunate man indeed in being selected to carry the Labour Party banner in the Wellington Suburbs campaign.
"I have been lionised," he continued, "feasted, hospitably treated, welcomed, and cheered wherever I have gone throughout the electorate, and I have come to the conclusion that all this good feeling and appreciation are being showered upon me not because I happen to be Harry Combs, but because the people of New Zealand and the people of Wellington" Suburbs in particular have a very keen appreciation of what the, Labour Government has done for.them during the last three years, and of the leadership of that fine man, Mr. Savage, their Prime Minister. (Api / .ise.) They also have a very keen appreciation of the cooperation he is receiving from the Ministers of the Crown and of the grand team work that is being performed by the members of Parliament who are supporting him. The Labour movement is going forward as one whole machine, and the people want to say 'thank you.'" Because he was standing as the Labour candidate in the Wellington Suburbs contest the people said."thank you" to him, knowing that he would convey their thanks to the Prime Minister when he got into Parliament, and through him they were also telling the Prime Minister thai they were going to have another supporter for him when the next Parliament started its business. (Applause.)
