W. J. O'Shea's horses Springfield Globe and Lawn Derby, and the TaV manian horse Logan. Derby, who ar» to visit New Zealand shortly, competed in the Pacers' Cup at Ascot, Melbourne, recently. Springfield Globe, driven by W. A. O'Shea, was second to Main Derby, an unhoppled horse .by New Derby, who was also a stattteiv The limit of ' the event was} 3L27, and the first and second-horses J were on the front line, Main Derby going 3min 2Usee. Logan Derby finished! fourth, off 72yds, and Lawn Derby, who won the race last year, was un* placed off 120 yds. Last season Springfield Globe,' who ranked second to the champion three-' year-old Radiant Walla, won' useful races, and on his Ascot'sho whig look* like developing into a fine horse.* H* is by Globe Derby from. Ayr, a New: Zealand-bred mare by Logan Pointer from Precision. O'Shea intends to race Springfield Globe and' Lawn Derby at the- Auckland Summer Meeting, where LOgan. Derby may also appear. If the 'programme is carried out the horses-wilt be at Epsom some time before " tha meeting, ,and there is a chance' of Lawn Derby and Nervie's Last giving a free-legged exhibition -at .the Wai» kato Summer Meeting.
