A. D. ("BOBBY") LOCKE

BRILLIANT GOLFER

N.Z. ITINERARY

The brilliant South African golfer, A. D. ("Bobby") Locke, holder of the Irish and South African titles, will arrive ,in Auckland by the Awatea from Sydney on Friday, October 21. He will commence his New Zealand tour the following day, with a match at the Titirangi links, Auckland, against A. Murray.

Locke is at present playing exhibition matches in Australia. His early form in the Commonwealth was not commensurate with his known ability, but as the tour progressed he began to reproduce the form that has gained him world recognition as a golfer. Accompanying Locke on his tour of New Zealand, as. manager, will be Mr. S. J. Hines, of Sydney, who is a prominent amateur golfer himself. Both he and Locke will be participating at the New Zealand championship meeting, on the Balmacewen links, Dunedin, although Locke himself will compete only in the Open championship. Mr. Hines is a member of the La Perouse Club, in New South Wales. Norman yon Nida, the well-known Australian golfer, will not be accompanying Locke, as was previously anticipated.

Wellingtonians will have the opportunity of seeing Locke in action at the Miramar links on Saturday, October 29, when he will be opposed by R. C. Butters, A. J. Shaw, and J. D. Mcintosh.

Following is the itinerary (not absolutely complete) for Locke's tour of the Dominion:—

Friday, October 21, arrives from Sydney.

Saturday, October 22, special challenge match with A. Murray, Titirangi links, Auckland.

Tuesday, October 25, match against A. Guy, Poverty Bay Club, Gisborne.

Thursday, October 27, match with J. Lambie and A. Dyke, Hastings Club, Hastings.

Saturday, October 29, match with R. C. Butters, A. J. Shaw, and J .D. Mcintosh, at Miramar links, Wellington.

Monday, October 31, at New Plymouth Club. New Plymouth.

Tuesday, November 1, match with G. Watt and possibly Bryan Silk, at Belmont links, Wanganui.

Wednesday, November 2, match with J. R. Galloway and possibly T. Galloway, at the Manawatu Club, Palmerston North. ,

Friday, November 4, match with H. Blair and possibly N. Fuller, at the Shirley links, Christchurch. Sunday, November 6, match with G. Forrest, at Timaru.

Tuesday, November 8, to Saturday, November 12, competing in New Zealand Open championship, at Balmacewen.

Sunday, November 13, match with B. J. Smith, jun., at the Invercargill Club.

Friday, November 18, at Rotorua Club.

Saturday, November 19, at Hamilton Club. ___
