McPHARLAND CUP
Conditions were ideal at the beginning of the 44jmile road race conducted by the Port Nicholson Amateur Cycling Club for the McPharland Cup on Saturday afternoon, but riders found the later stages of the race more difficult owing to a strengthened northerly wind. Taylor and R. Robson. M. Williamson (18min) and K. Wilson (3min) both received punctures. The field was practically the same in the second lap, but J. Wilson (2min) had caught the 3-minute bunch. M. Graham (3min) was the next to puncture. G. Amey (scr) had gained a minute and a half on the 2-minute men at the end of the third lap, when E. Robinson and N. Gestro were leading.
