N.Z. WILL HELF

"In the event of war, would the Labour Government send men from New Zealand to help the Motherland?" asked a questioner of Mr. R. McKeen, Labour candidate for Wellington South, at Ohiro Bay last evening.

Mr. McKeen's reply was to the point. "You can bet your bottom dollar," he said, "that if war does come the Labour Party will utilise all the resources within this country to help the Motherland—not only the manhood and womanhood, but the wealth also. We have something to fight for and we are prepared to uphold the authority of democracy against dictatorships. From the cable messages one gathers that war is almost on the horizon now, but if it comes we will not be found unready."
