REDUCED TAXATION

SYDNEY, September 27.

! Mr. B. S. B. Stevens, Premier of New South Wales; delivered his seventh Budget tonight. He announced taxation reductions and concessions totalling £200,000 a year.

Wage earners with dependants whose remunerations do not exceed £4 4s a week will be exempted from the wages tax from next January. Cheap rail fares will be provided for workmen living beyond the 11-mile outersuburban limit.

Harbour bridge tolls for raiL tram, and bus passengers will be reduced, and rail freights on some rural commodities will be lowered.

Mr. Stevens expects to finish the year with a surplus of £8000. He estimates income for the current year at £55,325,000, as compared with £54,346,000 last year. Expenditure is estimated at £55,317,000, as compared with £54,292,000 last year.
