NEW BUILDING OPENED
(By Telegraph—Press Association.) WANGANUI, September 10. A new building covering half an acre.of ground was officially opened at Ratana Pa today by the Acting Minister of Native Affairs (the Hon. F. Langstone) in the presence of 4500 Maoris and several hundreds of Europeans. The new building represents an administration block, sleeping, dining, and cooking quarters. It is designed j on modern lines and fitted with modern appliances, such as electricity, loudspeaker, telephone system, and steam cooking apparatus. Ratana's aim is a model settlement, and this building is part of the plan. It has been erected by funds obtained through a self-denial appeal made to members of the Ratana faith.
