PHILPOTT CUP MATCH
WELLINGTON WIN
The annual tournament for the Philpott Cup, for which Wesley teams from various centres compete, was won this year by Wellington, who defeated Masterton 6-3. The Wellington and Masterton teams were the only ones competing, as Wanganui, Christchurch, New Plymouth, and Auckland were unable to be present. The heavy ground tended to make conditions difficult, but play was always keen. Wellington seemed to have the better of the exchanges in the first spell, but Masterton combined better in the second, and evened up the play. Goals were scored for Wellington by R. Wintle (2), S. Arthur (2), S. Brown, and H. Bunkenburg. For Masterton, C. L. Churchill, C. H. Skuse, and R. A. Steer scored. The umpires were Messrs. D. R. Hogan and S. T. Taylor. The Philpott Cup was presented to Mr. L. Bade, the Wellington captain, at a function held early in the evening.
