PETONE RUGBY CLUB FINALE
1, (From "The Post's" Representative.) ' One of the most successful seasons of the Petone Rugby Football Club concluded last night with a dance attended by over three hundred and fifty people, which was also among the most successful functions ever he,ld by- the club. In keeping with the air of infectious gaiety and celebration the Labour Hall \vas a-brilliant scene of scarlet^ orange, and white hangings with-falls of matching streamers, while prominent in the foreground hung a shield bearing the monogram of the club decked with the blue and white'of the club colours. Broad ribands of blue and white also ran the lengthvbf the long' supper tables which had- as their < counterpieces vases; of fragrant spring flowers. The president of the club, Mr. J. R. Robertson, congratulated the players on the high standard of play that had been maintained throughout the season by all the teams which had resulted in no less than six championships being won by the club. These were senior A, senior B, third C, fourth A, fifth A, and the club championship. The individual awards were made as follows:—McßainShield, D. S. Peterson ' (clu6 captain); Estall Memorial Cup, C. Griffin; Purcell Memorial Cup, third grade team CC. Gates, captain); Mr. W. Pervan's trophy to the most improved player, senior A team, J. Jones; !Dr. Bakeweirs trophy (most improved forward, senior A team), R. White;' Mr. S. Platt's trophy (most improved player, senior B team), J. Tegg; Mr. H. Larks trophy (most improved junior A player), A. Andrews; Mr. L. Price's trophy (most improved third division player), V^ Brown; Mr. W. Pervan's trophy (most improved third C player), R. Gibson; Mrs. Martin's trophy (most improved fourth A player), R. Fairbairn; Mr. N. Croft's trophy (most improved 'fourth B player), R. A. Milburn; Mr. R. Hill's trophy (most improved fifth A player), A. Frost; Messrs. Henry and Hayyards trophy (most improved fifth B player), E. Thomas; Mr. F. Winesky's trophy (most improved player, sixth grade), A, E. Gillen. An excellent band was in attendance and the delicious supper served was in the capable hands of a committee of ladies comprisingl Mesdames J. Price (convener) (who was wearing navy blue floral marocain), T. Fuller (black georgette and lace), A. Miller 1 (petrel blue printed georgette), ; J. I Spence (green flowered crepe), J. Perkins (forest green crepe), S. Elvines I (black patterned chiffon), J. Martin (royal blue georgette), Miss V. Armstrong, (oyster georgette) and Miss N. Price (jade floral taffetas).
