FLAT CENTRES
SPLENDID LONDON IDEA
What must be an excellent idea for people arriving in London who do not know the city at all well is the establishment of what are called "flat centres." Just near one of the principal stations is one of these centres where inquiries can be made about flats—where to find them, how much they cost, the class of locality, and prices. There is a list of 4000 available, from the most modest to luxury flats where the most wealthy can be satisfied that they have all comforts which they demand in life.
It is- stated that hot water is no longer offered as a luxury; it is a necessity; so are competent porterage, lifts, and many other amenities of modern life. Advice is also given about decoration for those who wish to remodel or alter. Particulars of furniture, sports materials, etc., are given in the list of information, and people can be met when coming from abroad if wished and taken to their pied a terre. All this information and advice is given free, and the personnel of the flat centres are always available to supply information, or to meet people at the head office and conduct them over any properties or flats. It sounds a most helpful and available service, and for those who are going to the huge city as strangers, it would be—like the much-advertised pens—"a boon and a blessing." .
Real parchment lampshades can be easily cleaned by rubbing them all over with pieces of cottonwool dipped in fine oatmeal. •
Sprinkle stuffed eggs with parsley or paprika to make them look more appetising. ' »
