EX-CONVICT ARRESTED
! SAN JOSE (Costa Rica), August 24. Two prominent surgeons, Drs. Canas and Handi, a merchant, Egerico Vargas, and a Canadian miner, Harry Maynard, were shot dead yesterday, Beltran Cortes, a released convict, has been arrested. Later he attempted to hang himself in the gaol where he was finally taken after being rescued | with difficulty from a mob who tried to lynch him. Another Costa Rican was slightly wounded.
