FERRIER'S EASY WIN

OPEN AND AMATEUR DOUBLE

ADELAIDE, August 25,

Jim Ferrier today easily won the final of the Australian amateur golf championship, beating H. R. Payne, of Victoria, eight and six in the 36 holes final. Ferrier is thus the first player to win the open and amateur double since 1907, when the Hon. Michael Scott achieved that distinction. Critics say that Ferrier would have beaten the best overseas player on his present form. The professional championship was retained by the former title-holder, E. iCremin, of New South Wales, who, after a dour battle., beat C. Booths, also of New South Wales, two and one.
