NATIONAL PARTY
PLIMMERTON BRANCH
Supporters of the National Party who met at Plimmerton on Wednesday night decided to form a branch of the party. Mr. P. J. Wall presided.
The provisional committee appointed was as follows: —Mesdames R.'Mulhern and R. S. Wall, Messrs. C. Athya, R. Mulhern, A. E. Shank, G. L. Taylor, and R. S. Wall.
Mr. G. A. Monk, National candidate for the Otaki seat, addressed the meeting, and in doing so contrasted the policies of the Labour Party and the National Party. The National Party, he said, would give the individual the right to work out\ftfs own destiny, encourage co-operation between employer and employee, and inaugurate a definite land settlement policy. The Labour Party idea of collective farming would not succeed in this country; there must be personal incentive. Mr. Monk said he was an advocate of planned immigration. He also advocated an extensive afforestation scheme; opportunities had been lost in the past.
