SUNKEN TUG

MOVED TO SHALLOWER WATER

(By 1 olegraph—Press Association.)

AUCKLAND, August 22,

Lifted gently between two hopper barges on a rising tide today, the Auckland Harbour Board's tug Te Awhina was moved inshore to shallower water and a firmer harbour bottom. «

This was the first stage in the salvage of the vessel, which sank off the new Hobson Wharf on August 11 after fouling the starboard propeller of the Federal Line's motor-ship Essex. The work was watched by a large number of spectators on, the waterfront.
