Mr. and Mrs. W. A. Armour returned to Wellington this morning after, attending the inter-collegiate Rugby tournament at Christchurch. Mrs. Duncan Stout, Wellington, is visiting Christchurch. Mr. and Mrs. Vesey Robinson, Marlborough, who are visiting Christchurch, will-return home tomorrow. Miss Elizabeth Loe returned to Wellington yesterday from Havelock North. Mrs. W. Gentles, New Plymouth, arrived at Wellington during the weekend, and is staying with her daughter, Mrs. H. W. Martin, Lower Hutt. Marlborough visitors to Christchurch for the inter-collegiate Rugby tournament included Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Samuel, Dr. and Mrs. W. D. Storey Johnston, Mr. and Mrs. Bruce Beattie and Miss Nonie Beattie (Nelson), and Mrs. T. Maskew (Blenheim). Mrs. E. M. Clark, president of the ladies' auxiliary of the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, is visiting Auckland. She will take the opportunity of studying the methods of the ladies' committee of the S.P.C.A. there, will visit the animal hospital, and see the Blue Cross ambulance at work. . Mrs. F. Fildes, Kelburn, and Miss Flanagan motored to Palmerston North and spent the weekend with Mr. and Mrs. Gowing. The Misses Kathleen Ross, Margaret Freeman, and Helen Reay, Wellington, are spending a holiday at Dawson Falls, Mount Egmoni Mrs. L. J. Lewis, Christchurch, arrived at Wellington this morning to stay with Mrs. W. Burch. Mrs. S. Israel and Miss R. Van Staveren left by the Tamaroa on August 6. Among other passengers for Wellington were Mr. and Mrs. W. Bell, Mrs. I. Clulow, Mr. and Mrs. F. Edwards. Miss Muriel Shand returned to Wellington yesterday from a visit to New Plymouth. The Misses Noni and Janet Moore, Nelson, are visiting Wellington for a fortnight and are staying at Sayes Court. Miss Julia Wallace arrived at the weekend from New Plymouth, and is staying with her mother, Mrs. J. N. Wallace. Miss Kathleen O'Flaherty, Wellington, is at present visiting her brother in Auckland. Mrs. H. N. Rowe, New Plymouth, is spending a fortnight's holiday in Wellington. Mrs. E. Wallwork (Christchurch) and Madame Winnie Fraser (Dunedin) have returned from a pleasant visit to Paris, states "The Post's" London correspondent. The former was much gratified to find that the portrait which she submitted to the Salon — "The Daughter of a Maori" —had been well placed on" the line. Mrs. Fraser has gone to Scotland, where she has relatives and where she expects to spend two months* touring. Mrs. A. E. Cock and Miss Dorothy Cock, New Plymouth, are visiting Wellington for the Competitions. Miss W. Gordon, of the teaching staff of Wellington Girls' College, is spending the term holidays with her mother, Mrs. W. Gordon, Gonville, Wanganui. The death occurred suddenly at Dunedin last week of Miss Ellen Elizabeth Dutton, principal of the Dunedin Free Kindergarten Association for the last 16 years, states "The Press." Miss Dutton was just leaving a city restaurant when she collapsed. She wasl born in 1879, and had spent the greater part of her life in Dunedin. She was a daughter of the late Rev. Daniel Dutton and of Mrs. Dutton. Mrs. W. J. Robertson, Chaytor Street, Palmerston North, who has been visiting her sister, Mrs. W. J. Donaldson, Scarborough Terrace, Wellington, has returned home. Mrs. C. E. Monaghan, New Plymouth, is spending ;a holiday in Wellington. Mrs. A. B. Corlett, Oamaru, and Miss J. E. Corlett, have been travelling in France, Switzerland, Germany, Belgium, Holland, and Denmark, as well as in Scotland. They have relatives to visit in the North of England, the Isle of Man, and Tasmania before . they reach New Zealand. Miss B. Garcia, of the Wellington : dental clinic, is spending a holiday at \ her home in New Plymouth. Mr. and Mrs. C. R. Matthews were . passengers for Christchurch last evening. Mrs. Harvey Keedwell, Wellington, is ■ visiting New Plymouth, where she is : the guest of her mother, Mrs. A. E. Watkins. Mrs. Leslie H. Angus is paying a two weeks' visit to Dunedin for the Walker —Bond wedding. Miss Frances Burdett, who has just completed a post-graduate course, ; leaves for Auckland on Tuesday for a holiday, and on her return will take up her appointment as sister tutor at St. Helens, Wellington. ■ Mr. and Mrs. I.
