HUIA II V. HUTT

Hard hitting and excessive body play characterised a hard game between Huia II and Hutt at Karori' Park. Although this was in some measure due to the ground, which was badly cut about, there was a good deal of unnecessarily rough play. Huia's halfback line was not pulling together in the first half, and Hutt had established a 3-0 lead at half-time. At this stage Huia at last realised the trouble with their team, and in the second half their combination was much better, and they dominated play, penetrating to the circle repeatedly. They could not finish off their movements accurately, however, and when the game finished Hutt's goal was still intact. Chapman, Graham, and Flett scored for Hutt, the game ending: Hutt 3, Huia II 0. Messrs. Purves and Hogan were the umpires.
