HUTT HOSPITAL SITE
After an inspection of the hospital sites in the Hutt Valley yesterday by | members of the Wellington Hospital Board and representatives of the local bodies, an informal meeting of the local body representatives was held, and it was decided to inform the board, which meets next week, that no comment would be made. The local body representatives were Mr. J. W. Andrews (Mayor of Lower Hutt), Mr. G. London (Mayor of Petone,) Mr. P. Robertson (Mayor of Upper Hutt), Mr. E. W. Wise (Mayor of Eastbourne), Mr. S. Blackley (chairman of the Hutt County Council), Mr. Ward Pearce (a member of the Hutt County Council). The Hospital Board members were accompanied by Dr. R. A. Shore (Director of the Hospitals Division), and Dr. J. Cairney (assistant superintendent of the Wellington Hospital). An inspection was made of Mr. G. Pearce's property of 13 acres fronting High Street, Lower Hutt, which the building committee of the Hospital Board has recommended the board to purchase. Other properties inspected were one near the Nai Nai Convent and Boys' School, one on the foothills and flat at the end of Birdwood Road, Waiwhetu, and two in White's Line East. All the sites, except the one recommended by the building committee, were on the foothills.
