TEACHER TRAINING COURSE
A fine spirit of co-operation m church activity is indicated by the syllabus of the Wellington Sunday School Union's Teacher Training Institute. Beginning with a social reunion m the Cambridge . Terrace Congregational School Hall on Saturday next, a series 'of meetings follows for the ensuing fortnight embracing Bible study, fellowship, and studies on teaching method and practice. Ministers and active and experienced Sunday school workers from the Baptist, Congregational, Church of Christ, Methodist, and Presbyterian Churches are contributing. The general chairman is Mr. W. F. Stock, president of the union, and the Rev. E. P. Blamires,, Methodist Youth Director for New Zealand, will be associated with the institute. The course of expository studies will be taken by the Revs. D. M. Hercus and H. W. Newell, and the general title for these is, "Where a Christian Stands." In the discussions on the problems of teaching practice, a very wide range of subjects is covered, including "The Superintendent as a Spiritual Leader," "The Superintendent as an Organiser and Teacher," "Worship in the Sunday School," "The Use of Extra-Biblical Material," "Evangelism in the Sunday School," and "Linking the Home with the Sunday SchooL" In these discussions the institute will be grouped into the gradings obtaining in the Sunday School, and on one night a model lesson will be demonstrated in each group. The meetings for the first week are in St.. Andrew's Church, The Terrace, and during the second week in The Terrace Congregational Church. The sessions are open to all.
