FRIESLAND BACK
GOLD CARD ATTRACTIVE
(Special from "Limited.") HAWERA, August 19. Earlier in the week Mr. H. E. Card, of Wanganui, owner of Fiancee, was present at the local tracks to see his filly worked. In company with Naughty Marietta, she ran half a mile on the outside of the course proper, the going being heavy, in 54 4-ssec, after traversing the first three furlongs in 40 3-ssec. Fiancee will make her debut at the Wanganui Spring Meeting*, and is in capital order to commence the season. Friesland and Lowenberg, who have been doing road work for some weeks past, have resumed easy track exercise. Both look in excellent order. The Kincardine—Goldstitch two-year-old Gold Card is an attractive mover with plenty of power. This member of T. Fryer's team is coming to hand nicely. J. Duggan has the speedy mare Vienna back in work, and it is his intention to give her a course of schooling with a view to quietening her down. Although she has sufficient speed to win races, Vienna has lacked stamina in the past.
