She left by the iWanganella on Wednesday for New Zealand, where she will be retired to the stud. At the end of June the Phalaris horse Sickle was at the head of the list of leading sires in America, with 24 winners of 52 races with £31,000. Sickle was the premier sire in 1936. Mr. N. Grafas will be represented in the Avondale Stakes by Greek Queen, who is by Foxbridge from Exaggeration, a mare by Ludullus from Holymond, and sister to Holly Lu. The Auckland-owned mare Airam has been placed on the schooling list. %A. E. Ellis had sufficient riding over fences at Riccarton last week to become qualified for events this season restricted to hurdle and steeplechase horsemen. The Australian-bred four-year-old jMoonraker has had a recurrence of the knee trouble that affected her in the early part of last season, and Mr. H. D. Greenwood has decided to retire her to the stud. Moonraker, by Rionscup from the Magpie mare Voleuse, was purchased by Mr. K. Austin in Sydney for Mr. Greenwood.
