SPECIAL MATCH?
WHEN ALL BLACKS RETURN
The question of a match being played by the New Zealand Rugby team on its return from Australia has been raised, but nothing definite has been done in the matter. It is understood that there are difficulties in the way, one of them being that a Saturday match in Wellington, where the team is due to arrive from Sydney on Thursday, August 18, would mean interfering with the Wellington-Hawke's Bay fixture.
A correspondent, A; H. Addison, writes: "You had your little joke with us last week when you intimated that the AH Blacks were to play at Wellington, New South Wales, but is it beyond the bounds of practical politics for them to play a match, here on their return before they disband? I understand that the Auckland members of the team may be going direct to Auckland, but most of the Test team will be coming here, and with the remaining members of the party, plus reinforcements from Wellington, Taranaki, and Hawke's Bay, a good side could be got together to oppose them. We would like to see the Saxton-Berghan-Sulli-van-Mitchell-Morrison combination in action now; it might not be so effective in a year or two."
