AT ST. GILES'

WOMEN'S ASSOCIATION

■ At a meeting of the Women's Association of St. Giles Church, Kilbimie Crescent, nearly 100 members of the Presbyterian Women's Missionary Union and Women's Association had the pleasure of honouring their president, Mrs. Orange, at the last meeting over which she would preside.

The long tables were decorated with bright spring flowers,* gay serviettes, and beautiful china, while all present wore orange-coloured flowers. Tea was served t>y members of the executives of both organisations from silver services.

The occasion of the second anniversary of the foundation of tireWomen's Association was celebrated by having a big birthday cake, made and donated by Miss H. Crawford, and which-was cut by Mrs. Orange.

Mrs. E. Chappell (vice-president) thanked Mrs. Orange and -the lion, president, the Bey. Mr. Orange, for their valued services to both these organisations. Mrs. Mouat presented Mrs. Orange with a bouquet, and Mrs. Boyd, after reading a letter contained in an illuminated booklet of signatures, handed the booklet to Mrs. Orange. Mrs. Dunlop, a vice-president of P.W,M.U., proposed the health, of Mr. and Mrs. Orange, and this was accorded musical honours.

Both Mr. and Mrs. Orange spoke in appreciation of the special arrangements, and thanked all present for. their kind thoughts and friendship.

■ Mrs. T. Paterson gave pleasure by singing several numbers, Mrs. Jack being her accompanist. Miss Howarth gave a brief outline of her recent tour in Australia, and displayed some excellent photographs. Mrs. Jack, leader of the recently-formed playreading circle, reported that the membership was growing steadily, and that the plays read, were giving great pleasure.

The president thanked these ladies for their assistance, and an enjoyable gathering concluded with the singing of "Auld Lang Syne."
