WELLINGTON ESPERANTO CLUB

The weekly meeting of the Wellington Esperanto. Club was held on Monday eVenirig in the club's rooms, 12 Victoria Street. The president, Mr. E. A. Hornblpw, announced that the British Esperanto Association expected over 2000- people to take part in the thirtieth Esperanto World Congress, which is to be held in London next month. , After the enrolment of new member^ a. class of beginners, was commenced by Mr. D. Kirk, who has every confidence' /that these late pupils will be able to take part in the ninth NewZealand Congress at the end of this year. Mr. Nelson Hill, D.8.E.A., gave a brief preview of next week's presentation which will be a rewritten staging of the opera "Faust;" Messrs. R. Saunders, L. ■ Jowers, Major McAllister, and Miss Coila Olsen, with the aid of a microphone, gave an interesting radio- presentation, "An Announcer's Day Off.'-' The programme was concluded by an amusing skit taken from "On Our Selection," in which Messrs. G. Blong, V. Leek, and C. Toomer filled the roles of Dave, Mum, and Dad respectively. Mr. J. H. Thomas gave an interesting talk in fluent Esperanto for the more experienced members of the club, on "Esperanto—the Key to Friendship." It was announced that a social evening would be held in the •club's rooms on Saturday,. July 16.
