"MOTHERING SUNDAY"

The death is announced of Miss Constance Penswick Smithy who started "Mothering Sunday," which is now celebrated throughout the Empire. She passed away at Nottingham at the age of 85. She was the daughter of the Rev. Mr. Penswick Smith, who was 30 years vicar of Coddington. In 1913 Miss Penswick Smith started a movement to set aside one Sunday every year in which mothers should be honoured. Since then she has received numberless letters from people all over the world. •
