UNIVERSITY V. MARIST
Greater pace and individual initiative among the backs gave University the victory over Marist by 12 points to 6 at Kelburn Park last Saturday. The closeness of the points perhaps flattered Marist, for the honours were rather Univeristy's. Their score included three tries and! a penalty goal. Marist's points came from two penalty goals. Still, Marist put up a quite useful performance, the spoiling tactics of their forwards worrying the opposing rearguard. The slowness of their half hampered the University backs, but, for all that, they produced the only really bright spots in a game that generally lacked dash and genuine constructive effort. Neither side appeared to be viewing, the issue very seriously. There was a "don't care' 7 spirit about the play. For University
tries were scored by Wild (2) and Eastwood, and Kissel kicked a penalty goal. Hepburn kicked two penalty goals for Marist.
