WELLINGTON V. ONSLOW
There was a large crowd at Nairnville Park for the Onslow-Weliington match, which was keen and hard throughout but sound defence by both teams kept the score down, the game ending in a draw, 3-3. Onslow kicked £f2 against the wind but play generally was in neutral territory for the first half-hour. However, a forward rush led by Pyne, Bedkober, and Cameron went very near to success. For Onslow, Muir made a breakaway from the ruck and sent Kendall over near the corner. 3-0. Upon resuming, Wellington attacked strongly but Simmonds put Onslow on attack by intercepting a pass. Wellington's defence held out, however, and then Compton, a Wellington winger, figured in several strong runs. Finally he went over for a good try near the corner. Wellington continued to attack,, but Reid,, the Onslow full-back, relieved with good clearing kicks. Cragg, Cave, and Lizard were prominent and put in some solid work* in the tight for Wellington, while Pyne, Bedkober, and Bently did splendid work for Onslow.
Mr. B. Matthews was referee.
