WORK TO RESUME
SOUTHLAND COALMINE
(By Telegraph—Press Association.)
INVERCARGILL, July 3,
The Ohai coalmine stoppage ended yesterday with an agreement by the owners and miners to refer the dispute to the Arbitration Court at Dunedin on Tuesday. Both parties agreed to accept the Court's decision as binding. About 400 men will resume work tomorrow.
Negotiations between the parties were conducted by Mr. W. Ritchie, Conciliation Commissioner. The shortage of coal had become very acute in parts of Southland, and some merchants in the city were restricting household orders to one bag.
