OBITUARY

MISS A. M. BRIGHT

On Saturday from St. Mary's Church, Karori, took place the funeral of Miss Alice M. Bright, for many years a highly respected teacher in the service of the Wellington Education Board. The chief mourner was her brother, Mr. Albert Bright, v/ho has been retired from the railway service for some years, and the pall-bear-ers were nephews of the deceased. At the church was a large gathering of relatives and friends, among the latter being many teachers who were contemporaries of Miss Bright in the board's service. Miss Bright before her retirement on superannuation was for many years a senior assistant at Te Aro School under the late Mr. Clement Watson.

The funerat services at the church and at the crematorium were conducted by the vicar of St. Mary's, the Rev. F.. M. Kempthorne, who referred to Miss Bright's noble character and life 'of sacrifice. She was, he said, always •thinking of how she could help others 'and was a devoted practical member of the Church of England during her (years of residence in Karori and previously during a long period in St. Paul's parish where her father and mother before her had been amongst the earliest parishioners.
