DEATH OF MAORI LEADER

One of the leaders of the Ngaruru tribe, and connected also with the people of the Wainui-o-Rua (Wanganui River) sub-tribe, George Paroa, of Kai Iwi, died last week, and a big tangi attended by South Taranaki and Wanganui Maoris is in progress, states "The Post's" Wanganui representative. The late Mr. Paroa was a noted footballer and cyclist in his day, and it was he who invited and welcomed King Koroki, on behalf of the tribe, when the new meeting house at the pa was opened in 1938.
