808 IN HOSPITAL

RECORD SICK LIST

Yesterday and today there were 808 persons in the Wellington Public Hospital, a record figure for the institution. Four days ago the previous record was set up, 803 patients being on the sick list. There are now 99 children in the Children's Hospital, but these do not include those in the Fever Hospital, and it is estimated that there are at least 140 children undergoing treatment. Quite a few of these are measles patients.

The record number of patients is not due to the outbreak of any specific disease, but is accounted for by a large amount of general sickness.
