NEW TUNES FOR OLD

A Melbourne girl who is rather an unusual person, even to her name —Mauricette MacGillicuddy—is carving put a new career for herself in London. She left Melbourne a pianist, went on •to cultivate with pursed lips an unsuspected talent, and now hopes to return over the air to Australasian audiences as Mary Mauricette, a whistler. She contends that you must be outstanding to gain a hearing in London, and while pianists there are two a penny, so to speak, expert whistlers are comparatively rare. She has perfected her pretty art to the extent of including classics in her repertoire, and has already been given two television and several broadcasting engagements with the 8.8.C.
