APPEAL DISMISSED
The appeal of Millers (Invercargill), Ltd., and all its shareholders except George Maddams, of Rangiora, against a Supreme Court decision of Mr. Justice Kennedy in favour of Maddams, the respondent, was dismissed today by the Court of Appeal. The principal question at issue related to the power of the largest shareholder, J. T. Sharp, to pass resolutions concerning his own remuneration as a director.
The appeal was heard by the Chief Justice (Sir Michael Myers), Mr. Justice Blair, and Mr. Justice Johnston. Mr. W. J. Sim and Mr. L. J. H. Hensley, both of Christchurch, appeared for the appellants, and Mr. H. J. Macalister, of Invercargill, for the respondent.
