HUTT VALLEY AWARDS
The Hutt Valley Poultry, Pigeon, and Cage Bird. Society's cage bird show was opened in the Horticultural Hall, Lower Hutt, today, and will be continued tomorrow. The 220 birds on exhibition comprise canaries, budgerigars, and British and foreign finches. The judges are Messrs. JS. J. Sands (budgerigars), C. Sowman (British and foreign finches), and C. Denny (canaries). Special awards are as follows:— Canaries, Best canary in show, society's blue ribboned cup, federation diploma best Yorkshire*, and best Yorkshire: W. Dodd. Best opposite colour Norwich, federation diploma, best Norwich: C. F. Wilkie. Best opposite colour Yorkshire: A. Saunders. Best novice Yorkshire: N. Jenkins. Best colour fed: T. H. Riley. Finches. North Island championship for best British finch, federation diploma, best British tiird, and society cup: R. L. Home. Runner-up to best British bird, E. Jenkins. Diploma and Society Cup for best foreign bird: W. F. O'Shaughnessy; runner-up, T. Whiting. Budgerigars. 1 Best in show, fanciers' cup, federation diploma, Budgerigar Society's cup, and best blue: W. J. Elliott; runner-up, best novice, best opposite sex, best novice hen, best yellow, N. Jenkins. Best greywing green, best cobalt hen, novice (Budgerigar Society's diploma): E. Jenkins. Best green (North Island championship): N. A. George. Best white, champion cobalt hen (Budgerigar Society's diploma): H. S. Sparkes. Yellow cock (federation diploma): A. E. R. Gilbert. Federation novice yellow cock (fedj eration diploma): D. F. Whitaker. Best pair: R. W. Gilliand.
