Owing to the unusually dry season and prolonged play the green showed signs of wear earlier than usual, with the result that it was closed for play on April 2. Action was immediately taken to prepare the surface for sowing, and with the able assistance of greenkeepers from other clubs, the sowing was a success. The continuance of the fine weather had caused the grass to spring up in a most satisfactory manner, and there was every prospect of a magnificent green for next season's play.
In accordance with the resolution passed at the last annual meeting, the green was opened for play on Sunday afternoons, commencing on November 14. At first there was a fair attendance of players, but towards the end of the season interest slackened, and in accordance with the resolution passed at the last annual meeting, the matter is to be reviewed at the annual meetings
