INSPIRING SERVICE

KELBURN BIBLE SOCIETY

The annual meeting of the Kelburn branch of the British and Foreign Bible Society was preceded by an intercessory service which was held in St. ■Michael's Church. The Rev. Gordon McKenzie conducted the service and led the thoughts of all present in ! A Thanksgiving," reminding them of all those who, from early days in the history of the church, had served God and their-fellow-men, and had scorned the way of safety in obedience to the Divine will. Thanks were offered for William Tyndale, peer among the trans, lators of the English Bible, who had suffered martyrdom for his work of love, and for the work of the British and Foreign Bible Society and all engaged in its service. Mr. McKenzie presided over the meeting. A message was received from Mrs. Gavin Wilson, president of the branch, and regret was expressed at her illness. Mrs. Singleton, the secretary, voiced the feelings of all in thanking Mr, McKenzie for his help in conducting the service in the church. •The election of officers resulted in Mrs. Gavin Wilson being re-elected as president. A tribute was paid to her work over the years and her leadership of the branch. Other officers elected were: Vice-presidents. Mesdames Edgar, Shearer, McKenzie, McLaurin, and Eaton Hurley; secretary, Mrs. W. M. Singleton; collectors, Mesdames Holdsworth, Duff, Trivethick, Gorringe, Edgar, W. Thompson, and Misses Troup, Holmes, Williams, and Buckeridge.. , , After afternoon tea had been served Miss Fawcett expressed the wish that all collectors might carry with them a vision of the greatness of the work in which they were taking a part. Mrs. Singleton, in her'report, stated that last year £58 18s Id had been forwarded to Bible House, and she expressed appreciation of the work of trie collectors who had made possible such a gift.
