OBITUARY
MR. M. K. MCCULLOCH (By Telegraph—Press Association.) OAMARU, June 28. The death occurred suddenly last night of Mr. M. K. McCulloch, first assistant since 1906 at the Waitaki Boys' High School. He was well known in rowing, Rugby, swimming ,and golf circles as an active participant and later as an administrator. He is survived by his wife and three daughters. MR. GEORGE T. ALLEN (Special to the "Evening Post.") MASTERTON, This Day. The death occurred in Masterton Hospital early yesterday morning of Mr. George T. Allen, editor and proprietor of the "Eketahuna Express," and one of the best-known residents in the Eketahuna district. The late Mr. Allen, who was born in Taranaki, being a member of one of the pioneer families of that province, started life as a farmer but entered the newspaper world over 30 years ago in partnership with Mr. A. H. Vile. Later he took over his partner's interests. Only two days before entering hospital he was entertained by members of the Eketahuna Club, when a record gathering elected him a life member. He is survived by his widow, one son, Mr, J. S. Allen, of Sydney, and a daughter, Mrs. H. S. Aldrieh, of Hamilton. MR. A. P. WHATMAN (By Telegraph—Press Association.) MASTERTON, This Day. The death occurred this morning of Mr. A. P. Whatman, who took a prominent part in the raising of funds during the Great War. He gave the returned soldiers at Ahikouka, South Wairarapa, land for settlement, and donated the Whatman Home and made other gifts to the Salvation Army. Mr. Whatman, who was a keen supporter of boxing, was a single man aged about 75. : . —
