JUNGLE SEARCH
CHINESE MURDERERS (Received June 29, 9.40 a.m.) SINGAPORE, June 28. Two hundred and fifty police ar® scouring the jungle in Pahang State in the search for the ten Chinese who are alleged to have been responsible for the murder of the New Zealander Mr. F. W. G. Dunsford, owner of the Terang gold mines. It is believed that all avenues of escape have been cut off, and a pitched battle with the gang, who are armed with shotguns, is regarded as inevitable. Sixty Malay and Sikh police set out early this morning on a 75-mile jungle trek. Each policeman is armed with a shotgun, a bayonet, a chopper, and a week's provisions. The country; abounds With tigers.
Mr. Dunsford was killed by Chinese robbers who decamped with goldi amalgam valued at £1250. According to the British United Press, Mr. Dunsford was attacked with a shotgun and native knives. He put up a desperate struggle. Although wounded by a gunshot, he returned the Are, but was struck down and hacked to death with daggers.
