SERVICE TO EMPIRE
LEGION OF FRONTIERSMEN (By I'o'Deraph—J*resß Association.) PALMERSTON N., This Day. The annual conference of the New Zealand Command of the Legion of Frontiersmen opened today, Commandant J. C. Findlater, Hawera, presiding. Delegates were present from Auckland to Dunedin. In opening the conference the Mayor, Mr. A. E. Mansford, said he believed that the legion was stronger today than ever. No finer spirit could be had by any body of men than to serve the Empire. It was a pity that that spirit was not more in evidence today, because with the fall of the British Empire there might be an end to civilisation as we knew it.
