THE HANKOW PUSH

NEW THREAT TO CITY,

SHANGHAI, June 24.

Chinese guerrilla troops, taking advantage of the transfer of Japanese for the push against Hankow, have renewed their activity in North China, and claim to have recaptured eight towns in Shantung Province.

A new threat is caused to Hankow |as a result of the landing of 6000 Japanese on the south bank of the Yangtze near Tungliu, east of the Matang boom. Heavy fighting continues. The Chinese claim that bombers set Are to three warships near Tungliu.

A hundred Japanese sailors and marines were killed when a Japanese launch struck a Chinese mine above Anking.
