VICTORIA LEAGUE ! (From "The Post's" Representative.) WANGANUI, June 24. A delightful afternoon was spent by members of the Victoria League on Thursday, when musical items and a travel talk were given. Mrs. Leo Campion and Miss Hanna and Miss Joyce O'Neill were responsible for several solos and duets, the accompaniments being played by Mesdames H. D. Robertson, Campion, and Miss N. Hales. Mrs. T. E. Lovegrove, accompanied by her sister, Miss Gammon, gave musical monologues, and Miss Marjorie Peck pianoforte solos. Mrs. H. D. Robertson was the speaker for the afternoon, giving an interesting resume of her trip to Germany. Among those present were Mesdame,s A. H. Boyes (president), N. R. Bain, T. Dix, A. Hatrick, sen., G. J. Adams, H. D. Bates, Hay-Camßbell, L. Brinkman, P. A. O'Neill, H. C. Jenkins, A. A. Barton, T. Wells, E. Cole, J. H. Clay, V. B. Willis, O. Hales, and C. Home.

Collegiate Guest. Mr. and Mrs. F. W. Gilligan, of the Collegiate. School, were hosts early in the week at a small party given, in honour of Canon Hall, of Gisborne, who was their guest The Canon left later for Wellington. Institute "Birthday." The Mataroa Women's Institute celebrated its fourth birthday by ah evening party which featured dancing, games, and competitions. Mrs. Bell, Mr. and Mrs. Gordon, L. Whisker, and Beth Steedman contributed items. The president (Mrs. Bosher) cut the birthday cake. A Farewell. Mr. and Mrs. S. G. Laurenson, Palmerston North, who leave shortly to take up residence in Marton, were tendered a farewell by many associates in their church and other activities. Gifts were presented and many expressions of good will voiced. Mr. and Mrs, Laurenson will be greatly .missed in Palmerston North. Personals. Mrs. B. Bates, Grey Street, has returned from Nelson. Miss G. Thompson, Dannevirke, is the guest of Miss E. Collins, Mangamahu. _■ „ Mr. and.Mrs. C. Durrant, Taihape, have been visiting Auckland. Mrs. James McGregor is visiting Wellington. , ,-. Elmslie, "Athol," Waverley. , - ;■■ Miss Beth Manchester, Chnstchurch, is the guest of Mrs; I. Ziesler. , , Mrs. M. Bond, who has been spending a long holiday in Sydney, has returned.
