Newspapers report that the Minister of War is considering a formal declaration of war on China with the object of inducing third Powers to cease assisting China. FOREIGN OFFICE DENIAL (Eeceived June 23,12.30 p.m.) TOKIO, June 22. The Foreign Office disclaims intention to make a formal declaration of war against China.
SEARCHED BY POLICE HONG KONG NEWSPAPER OFFICE (Received June 23, 10.20 sum.) HONG KONG, June 22. Police searched the office of the "Sunday Herald" in consequence of the editor's refusal to divulge the name of the writer of the article alleging that Chinese girls between the ages of 14 and 21 years, mostly refugees from Canton, Swatow, and Amoy, are being sold in a secret slave market at Hong iKong for £8 to £17.
SEARCH FOR IRON MUNITIONS DRIVE IN JAPAN (Received June 23,10 a.m.) TOKIO, June 22. ' It is announced that on the anniversary of the start of the conflict in China, July 7, it will be the duty of every household to contribute an article of scrap iron. Also, the Post Office is scrapping thousands of iron pillar-boxes throughout the country and substituting concreted receptacles.
